Week 2 Term 2

During reading time we have a range of activities we work through throughout the week. They include the Daily 5 (writing, reading to self, reading to a buddy, listening to stories and word work), which encourages us to become independent workers.

This week we were lucky enough to fit a hockey skills session in with Justine before the rain set in! We covered how to hold the stick, to dribble the ball and dodge. Justine was excellent and kept us on our toes.

On Friday we had Wacky Hair Day to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House. We have a number of whanau in our school community who have used this fabulous facility when supporting loved ones. Our wonderful student council decided this was a great cause to raise money for. In total we raised $600.

Have a happy and safe week!

Term 2 Week 1

Welcome back to Term 2! This term we have welcomed a new member to our class, Mahuru. Mahuru and his family come to us from Tasman School. Mahuru is a Year 3 boy who is full of energy, fun, smiles and is a huge Pokemon fan!
Back with our buddies! On Tuesday we caught up with our much loved buddies for library time!

During writing time this week had a challenge to use as many of our word study list in an imaginative story. Some of us wrote up to three pages!

Next week we are looking at the long u sounds, including, ew, ou and u_e. Take a look at our homework blog for the Spelling City link for fun games and activities to reinforce this learning.
Have a happy and safe week!
